Making News in our Hometown!

April 14th, 2007

We were mentioned in today’s Home & Garden section of the SF Chronicle, Have Hammer, Will Blog.

Like HomeAndTell, home blogs offer a way for home enthusiasts to share their experience and offer their knowledge to prospective home renovators.

For those of you of who are not ready to start a blog, HomeAndTell allows you to share your experience. You can load one picture, or several, and share as little or as much as you like.
So welcome Home and we look forward to getting to know you on our online neighborhood.

Our First Review on Profy

January 30th, 2007

We got our first full review in Profy by Svetlana Gladkova. She really understood our concept and did a great job profiling our site. I especially like how she describes the deep relationship people have with their space: “Do you ever start changing your life by changing your house?” Very true.

Thanks Svetlana for checking out our site.

Welcome to HomeAndTell!

January 16th, 2007

Exactly six months later and it’s official - we’re live! Check out the press release!

We wanted to take this moment to thank everyone who helped us test the site for the past month. It was your feedback and suggestions that helped us make HomeAndTell a better place for our community. And of course, we’d like to thank our amazing team - Kate, Hillary, Linda, George, and Ed - for all of their very hard work and many words of encouragement.

For those new to HomeAndTell, welcome!    We really hope you enjoy the site as much as we enjoyed building it. To learn more about HomeAndTell, stop by and Take a Tour. Then head over and get to know our story and our team.  We look forward to getting to know you, and hope that you find inspiration for your next project, make some friends along the way, and make this your home on the internet.

See you all around the neighborhood!

 Time to celebrate!

Making the Site Better with You

January 3rd, 2007

We want to thank everyone who helped make our private launch a success. Our main goal was to get a good number of you to check out the site and give us your feedback. This has been tremendously helpful as each one of you brings a unique perspective to the site.

Here are just some of the comments that we received from you that we plan to build into the site:

  • People like to click images – make sure they go somewhere
  • Add a search box so people can find specific items quickly
  • Limit the number of mandatory fields and clearly indicate them
  • Members should be able to change their password or email address

Again, we really appreciate all of you who took the time to give us your feedback and hope you keep them coming!

HomeAndTell on Evan Williams’ Blog

December 21st, 2006

Our first write up in a blog and it’s by Mr Blogger himself Evan Williams! (co-founder and CEO of Pyra Labs, makers of Blogger, now part of Google). The same post got a comment by Ted Rheingold founder of Dogster and Catster.

Evan Williams said…”Home And Tell is a “ster,” as Ted Rheingold would call it, for home improvement enthusiasts. Interesting potential (just launched).”

Ted R. said…”Moreover, home projects is definitely a ’ster’ topic that I imagined could be quite popular. Kudos to them for getting it out there”

Thanks Evan and Ted for the positive words!

Here we are on the eve of the soft launch of HomeAndTell.com!  The editorial team is flipping out with excitement and we couldn’t be happier for Jay and Christine! No two people deserve more.   We’ve got  a long way to go, but we’ll get there!

It’s exciting to share the launch of this site with the rest of the world and we hope people reading this feel free to post some comments and participate in the growth of this exciting new venture!

Congratulations Jay and Chris!

Ok, here we go!

September 4th, 2006

Back in July, we were just a couple of first time home hunters trying to find our way. After many workshops, conversations with friends and family, and endless searching through the web, we still felt somewhat unprepared.  We tried our best to piece everything together so we could begin the search for our first home. On the morning of 7/16, we were getting ready to see our first open house. We were so excited (!) but still nervous about not knowing exactly what to do and what homeownership really means.  We sat at the kitchen table having breakfast, amazed at yet another milestone that was to come up in our lives, how beautiful and special these moments are, and how we wished we could share it with everyone. It must have been sometime between the toast and the the tea, that we stopped to wonder if there was a way we could do this. How could we talk about our house hunting experience, show everyone what the house looks like, and maybe ask for advice along the way from people who have already done this….

Only two short months later, we are in full swing with building HomeAndTell.  We’re so lucky to have found an amazing tech team and editor/community manager who are helping us every step of the way!
