1. What is HomeAndTell?
HomeAndTell is the premier online community for home enthusiasts! If you love your home and want to share projects, plans, and events with other people, this is the place for you! From home improvement expert advice to articles, news, and great conversations with people just like you, HomeAndTell is quickly becoming the best resource for all your needs.

2. Is there a fee to join?
No. Membership is always FREE!

3. Why should I upload photos of my house and projects I'm working on or have done?
Your home shows so much about your personality and who you are. By uploading a photo of your home you will be able let the world know more about you ­ and it's fun! Show off your fine self! And if you're working on a great new project, or have completed a project you're proud of, it's a good idea to show pictures so people can see what you've done. Who knows who you will inspire!

4. Do I have to upload photos in order to participate?
No. You can still join and participate in the Neighborhood forums and browse through houses and projects. (But really, it's even more fun when you get involved and have your own pictures up, too!)

5. Will anyone be able to locate where I live if I upload photos?
No. No one will know where you live unless you tell them (which we don't recommend). When you take pictures of your house, you may want to try to avoid taking pictures of your house numbers and giving obvious information like "This is our house on 42nd street in New York".

6. Can I remain anonymous?
When you register at HomeAndTell you will be asked to create a username. Be creative and choose an alias or nickname. You should not use your real name.

7. I think I had a problem signing up. Can someone help me?
Sign up is easy! But if you have any trouble at all, you can always contact community [AT] HomeAndTell [DOT] com for assistance.

The HomeAndTell Neighborhood

1. What are Neighborhood forums?
The forums are message boards where you can introduce yourself, talk to other members of HomeAndTell and get expert advice. They're easy to use. You simply post your questions or comments and wait for someone to respond.

2. Why do you call this a virtual neighborhood?
Because we are an online community with people describing their homes, yards, and communities, and it's a place where people get to know each other, it really is more like a neighborhood! A friendly and welcoming neighborhood is a great place to be!

3. I think I might be able to answer someone's question. Is it ok if I do?
Of course! You don't have to hold back on your opinions and your experiences! Jump into the action and answer questions and get involved!

4. How do I post a question or comment in the forums?
Using the forums is easy. After you register for your FREE membership and create your profile, simply go to the neighborhood forum and click on any topic. Then stick on Start New Topic to open a new topic window. Enter a subject for your post and simply type in your comment or question. When you're done, submit your post and you'll see it in the forum! Remember, only registered members can post in the forums.

5. How do I respond to a post?
See a post you'd like to respond to? At the bottom of that post you will see Submit Reply. Click on it, enter your reply in the window that appears, and then click the Submit button.

6. How do I report an inappropriate post?
Report all violations and concerns to community [AT] HomeAndTell [DOT] com

7. Who are the Neighborhood Hosts?
You will see a number of Neighborhood Hosts wandering through out the community. These individuals can be recognized by the HT- before their names, such as HT-Linda. They're here to help you find your way around the site and answer any questions you might have.

8. What is the message center?
The message center is where you can send and receive private messages to/from other HomeAndTell members! Think of it as your private mail box.

Projects and Homes

1. How do I search for homes?
Searching for homes is easy. Click on SEARCH at the top of your page to go to the search page. Click on Tour Homes and you'll be able to search for homes according to type, price and more. You can also use the dropdown menu in the Share box.

2. How do I search for projects?
You're in luck! It's just the same as touring homes! Click on SEARCH at the top of your page to go to the search page. You can also use the dropdown menu in the Share box. Click on Get Ideas and you'll be taken to a page where you can search for projects according to location, budget and more.

3. I found a project I really like. How do I post a comment for that user?
When you view someone's project or home, you will see a little comment box below it. Enter a comment and let them know what you think about their project. You can also ask them questions about their project, too. Check back often if you want to see their answer.

4. Someone has posted a comment about my house. How do I respond back to them?
You can post a reply to them in the same comment box under your project or you can send them a private message through the message center.

5. How do I report an inappropriate comment?
Yikes! That's not very nice! Drop an email to community [AT] HomeAndTell [DOT] com quick!

Photos and Articles

1. Can anyone add an article to the site?
You bet! We ask that articles be original and that you follow our article guidelines. All articles will be reviewed and must be approved before they appear on HomeAndTell. Ready for the best part? Not only will you be showcasing your talent and skills, we'll send you a secret prize (aren't you excited now!).

Expert-Ed is our painting and color expert who will help you make your home look amazing with advice about interior and exterior design.
